Master Renier Gonzalez
I learned to play chess at 11 years old
in my hometown of Jagüey Grande, Matanzas Province. During eight
years I participated in the category tournaments where I won five trophies
in the National School Games (two first place trophies, one second place,
and two third place).
At 17, I was the runner-up at the national junior championship. At 19, I appeared for the first time in the ELO FIDE list, with a rating of 2250. I obtained my title of International Master (IM) at 24 years of age and the Grandmaster title (GM) at 34. I got my three GM norms at: Foxwoods open in 2004, the second one at the Lindsborg Open the same year, and the last one in Bayoles, Spain in 2007. I won the Florida State championship from 2002 to 2004,and I have also won several national and international tournaments. My teak FIDE rating was 2560 in 1996. I am currently the second highest rated chess player in the state of Florida.
I started my career as chess professor at 18 years old, working at the municipal academy of Jagüey Grande until 1995. In that year, I also worked as a trainer of the chess selection in Valencia, Spain. That same year, I began working as a trainer in the chess high school of Matanzas, where I worked until 1999. Also in 1999, I started training the high performance selection in Bogotá, Colombia, and also the chess league of that city. I worked at both until 2001, when I worked as a trainer of the chess selection of San Antonio del Táchira. Also in 2001, I came to the United States and started working as a trainer at Hialeah Middle School, West Laboratory Elementary, and Henry M. Flagler elementary. I know have a chess club, Davie Chess Club, which meets every Monday. I am also teaching the prestigious chess teams of: Nova University School and Pine Crest. With my chess company, Professional Chess Services (PCS), I provide different chess services, such as scholastic tournaments, chess lessons, and sells.
